A long time ago, in the UK, I was a very good Brownie and not such a good Guide.....so as a grown-up, I was delighted to discover Scouting in Australia, which was so much more fun! I was briefly an ACSL, and then ASL, and then - as happens - SL of Malvern/Torrens Park Troop in Sturt District.
Feeling the need to get communications going, as our DSL had left, I was acting DSL until someone nominated me to be DC. Now I am back in the Scout Section, and can continue my love of creative (I hope) programming and challenging but wacky activities, along with my great team, who I am sure were both good Cubs and Brownies and excellent Scouts and Guides!
Get in touch and share the Scouting that makes you laugh, thrill and feel satisfied."

I was bred through Scouting at 3rd Goodwood Scout Group, Unley District (now Sturt) as a Cub, Scout, Venturer and briefly a Rover. Some of my best experiences growing up occurred in Scouts and the Scout Section grew on me from the age of 10.5. Probably my best experience was a one week bike hike around Kangaroo Island in 1981.
After approx 5 years of being an SL I had a break after a couple of years in fear of going stale. I was then honoured to be asked to be DSL of Sturt District at age 26. This was a fantastic and exciting new challenge and my overall mission was to provide an effective service to the Sturt Scout section and to be an inspiration to SLs. My main aim was to provide a technical Scouting service to the District that I would have wanted as a Scout & Scout Leader.
This role created a new challenge and inspiration and I was DSL for approximately 5 years. Another one of my primary objectives as DSL was to integrate ALL Scout Troops in the District, share program ideas, provide/share specialist resources and enhance communication as well as creating cohesion with the District Scout Section.
My main objective as an Assistant Branch Commissioner now is to enhance communication, cohesion, co-operation and enthusiasm between Branch, Districts and Scout Troops and share program ideas and resources from all over SA.
I also own an 83 acre property in Eastern Adelaide Hills which I’m revegetating and have a special interest in the environment.
